Hello there! Welcome to my site and thanks for taking time out of your busy day to find out more about little ol’ me. My real name is Joe and that picture was taken a LONG time ago. I was given the title of Uncle Bubby by my sister when my niece, who was 3 or 4 at the time, was unable to distinguish between me and my father, who is also named Joe.
This site began strictly as a hobby many many years and a couple of lifetimes ago. To give you an idea of when that was, I originally included a download link for the Microsoft Speaker Driver so you could get sound out of the internal speaker on your motherboard in Windows 3 point whatever because 99% of the Windows world did NOT have a sound card. The original intent was simply to record sounds from popular movies, TV shows, etc. to be used as alert sounds in Windows. Because I like movies so much and those memorable lines have always been part of my family’s lexicon, it sort-of expanded to include those fun one-liners alongside the alert sounds.
Over the years, the site has taken many forms and been hosted on many different pieces of hardware. I think the first version was created as strict HTML using Notepad and a copy of HTML For Dummies (seriously). The next iteration was done using the WYSIWYG editor that was part of Netscape (which should give you another indication of how long I’ve been at this). After that it moved through different versions and different functions and elements of Microsoft FrontPage. Since Microsoft decided to abandon the FrontPage product, and I was becoming decreasingly enamored with it, I decided to abandon it, too, and switch to a Content Management System.
But this is an About Me page, not an About My Site page so you probably want to know a little bit more about me. Well, if it isn’t already obvious, I love movies. I love just about any kind of movie and I so much prefer the theater experience. I have a surround sound system at home for my DVD’s but unless I have a mini-theater built into my house (which ain’t gonna happen), the home experience can only approach the true theater experience asymptotically (it’s probably the only math term you’ll ever hear me use – look it up). There are periods of time when I go see movies at the theater every weekend.
Other than movies, I also enjoy digital photography. In fact, I have a couple of photo sites sitting right next to this site. No, don’t look behind your monitor. I mean they’re right next to it on the server. I have a regular photo gallery with family photos, nature photos, etc. and I also have a celebrity photo gallery comprised mostly of pictures from SciFi conventions (yes, I’m one of those and no, I don’t dress up). Other than that, I also have a blog where you can read more about me than will fit on this page and is more than you ever wanted to know.
As for employment, I have been many things throughout the years. I have a degree in Radio and Television Production from Oklahoma State University. I have been an audio production specialist, a radio DJ, a TV cameraman, a producer of cable television advertising, a computer technician, a retail clerk and supervisor, an email postmaster, an IT manager, and an enterprise helpdesk analyst. “What a long, strange trip it’s been.” (dont’ ask me who said that)
If you want to get in touch with me, there is an email link at the bottom of every page. Just click and type.
Enjoy the site!,
